I Wait For A World

I WAIT FOR A WORLD
– Carl Josehart

I wait for a world
I cannot yet imagine
to be born out of present day
hope and sorrow

I wait for a world
when sons and daughters shall prophesy
the old shall dream dreams
the young shall see visions
when wonders will be in the heavens and on the earth…
And whoever calls on the name of the Lord
shall be delivered[1]

I wait for a world
when no one curses the deaf
or places stumbling blocks before the blind[2]

I wait for a world
when people are bold as the leopard
when fighting injustice
swift as the eagle
to aid those in need
fleet as the deer
in running from evil
mighty as the lion
to perform the will of our God in heaven[3]

I wait for a world
when no person is disdained
nor underrated
for every one has his time
and every person her hour in the sun[4]

I wait for a world
when they that wait on the Lord
shall have their strength renewed
will mount up with wings as eagles
run and not be weary
walk and not faint[5]

I wait for a world
and wait
and wait
and sicken from the waiting
we pray
we sacrifice
we live
we die
many die
I call on the name of the Lord
and still I wait
