The Road Ahead

The road ahead
is steep
and winding

it leads
we know not where

but today

I am thankful

for the beautiful view
of where I have been
the people I have met along the way

I am grateful

grateful
for family
friends
food in abundance
home
meaningful work

today
I am hopeful

hopeful
for children
who see the world with wonder
love one another without judging
whose sticky hands hug with joy
and fall into life giggling

ease the burdens
share the joys
