The Ocean
by Carl Josehart
The ocean
caresses my face
with its sweet salt spacy
boats bobbing in rows
eager for the destinations
children playing in the sand
dodging waves
squealing at the thunder
running from the raindrops
a peninsula
dipped like a careful
toe in frigid waters
suspended amid a
calm sea and
angry heavens
await its fate
while a summer storm
stomps its feet and
wanders away
tourists poke their heads out
like the groundhog on his day
deciphering portents of
weather
while I stumble back
to the rocky shore
and let the ocean caress my face
